No joke, this artist put a lot of time and effort into this piece to create it in the likeness of Lara Croft. Outstanding work and check out the rest of their gallery! Classic 5... Aicka by Pitoxlon ( Suggested by Inna-Vjuzhanina and Featured by PolyMune )

Dark places hide exotic treasures. Keeps you wondering about her, doesn't it? Gorgeous profile shot of our lady from the Isles. Great rendering.

I'll admit this looks great, but I have to ask, do you think the short tank top and short shorts are functional in Lara's kind of work?

Have you ever even played any of the games. This is the type of outfit she always wears. It's obviously nowhere near what a real archaeologist would wear, but then, she's a videogame character.

Lets be honest, nothign about Lara Croft is nowhere near what a real archaeologist would be.

Haha, very true. I think I've yet to see a truly accurate representation of an archaeologist within the entertainment industry. It's sad, really.

To be fair, when they first began making Tomb Raider, Lara Croft's character was originally intended to be a man. They changed it to a woman because she/he looked too much like Indiana Jones, hat and all! (I bet none of them suspected at the time that she would go on to become one of the biggest sex symbols of the videogame industry...)

Good point. Although Indiana Jones isn't exactly a good representation,  either. :XD:

Sad? naaah. I mean, if they would show you a real archeologist, it wouldnt be entertainment industry.
no disrespect for archeologist, I love cultural programs of Nat Geo among others. But one thing is watching a cultural program and other is making a video game out of it.
Do you imagine that? spend 7 hours pressing the A button to dig a hole just to find out there was nothing there.

Might as well play a video game based on a documentary.

I probably wouldn't mind. I remember spending hours at the dig site at my local museum. Sure I wasn't discovering fossil remains for the first time, but it was unique to me.

Of course. I aint saying it isnt an intersting thing, but one thing is doing such thing on real life and a diferrent one would be on a video game.

There is a lot more to archaeology than that. It wouldn't be a thriller game where you are shooting at bad guys, but there are plenty of mini-game type games and such that you could add into an archaeology-based game to make it incredibly entertaining AND realistic. At the very least, the entertainment industry could stick to historical facts, which I, personally, find 10x more interesting/frightening/thrilling than anything they could make up/alter.

Well, I have to admit that if a guy could make an intersting game of just checking people passports ("Papers, Please") Archeology looks a lot more promising as a videogame.

... 'Just checking papers'? Wow... There is FAR more to archaeology than that. Far, far more. As well as excitement. No offence meant, but you clearly don't know anything about the field, and, possibly, history...

I've played a few of the games and I love the whole sexy aspect of Lara, but majority of the pictures I find just play up her sexuality. It's like Indiana Jones was a woman and slutted up!

it's not that they are "slutting her up" it's just the style of character they did with her (Eidos i mean). She's sassy, she's brave, she's smart, she's sexy: she's got a lot of areas to her character that are great. Yes her outfits play up her curves, but that just makes her "her". I find the term "Slutty" doesn't even remotely tie in with Lara because she is a strong confident woman and not at all a "sex object" in the games, mainly more what she's played up outside the games  . I wouldn't say burlesque house women are slutty either, women can wear what they like if it works, go for it doesn't make them slutty :) .

For Lara it's just how she was designed. Only recently have they toned down her design but even then they obviously keep her figure similar. Lara's lara and she's one sassy girl, even when she has triangle boobs :giggle:

That is so true! As much as I love Lara, her games and, hell, even the movies, I've always disliked how sexualized she is.
